Character History:
Sometimes, luck is not on the side of a particular individual in life. Remus Lupin was born into a half-blood family. His life took a sharp turn at a very young age, when his father offended the werewolf, Fenrir Greyback. Fenrir took his revenge by biting the man's son, and thus, Remus became a werewolf. There was no cure for lycanthropy, and the wizarding world mistrusted and feared werewolves to a great degree. He had a fairly lonely childhood growing up, because of the secrecy his parents had to keep up to keep people in the dark of the curse he was under. Remus' parents tried to protect their son by keeping his lycanthropy a secret, but they never expected that their son would be allowed to attend Hogwarts because of his condition. It must have been quite a surprise when Dumbledore informed them he saw no reason Remus couldn't go to the school.

For Remus, this is when his life truly changed the second time. He was well aware of the wizarding world's opinions of werewolves and the secrets he would have to keep to stay in school, but Dumbledore arranged a lot of help for the young werewolf wizard. The Whomping Willow was planted the same year Remus arrived as a first year at Hogwart's, planted to guard a secret tunnel to the shrieking shack, which Remus would use for the years to come to hide each full moon and go through his transformation where he could hurt no one but himself.

The unfortunate side effect of this isolation was that the werewolf turned on itself, and Remus' full moon's those first few years were agonizing. His screams and howls spurred on a legend that the shack, later known as the shrieking shack, was haunted by spirits. The transformation was painful, and the wolf took its frustrations out on itself, leaving Remus exhausted and weak for the days after the change.

At eleven years old, Remus was young to have the responsibility of his secret weighing heavily on his shoulders alone. It was a burden he carried for the chance to go to a school where he would learn and possibly make other young wizard friends. It just so happened that these friends came in a trio of troublemakers who would help shape the future of Remus' life and help shape him as a person. James Potter, Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew became Remus' best friends at Hogwarts. They were a wild bunch of clever troublemakers, and astonishingly, Remus found his place among them, just as clever and prone to trouble as they were.

A clever boy, Remus was very good in his classes, and he became close friends with the three young wizards who would later be known as The Marauders. Remus lived in terror of his secret being discovered by his classmates, or worse, by his friends. However, when his clever friends discovered the truth they did not recoil from Remus as he had expected they would. He could only lie for so long about his disappearances around the full moon before the other young wizards caught on to the stories of his mother's illness. Remus was afraid they would desert him if they knew the truth.

During their second year at Hogwart's, the other boys finally discovered the truth, and rather than leave or fear him, they accepted him and decided that they would learn to become animagi to help control Remus when he was a werewolf. A feat they accomplished by their fifth year in Hogwart's. Remus was touched and bewildered by his friend's faith and dedication to him, and returned their loyalty in full. The four became inseparable at Hogwart's early on in their years, and were often seen together, known to be clever and for their tendencies to stir up trouble.

The marauder's were trouble, make no mistake. They were clever and arrogant, and at times they were bullies. While Remus admitted that he never approved of the bullying that they partook in, he also never spoke up to stop it, and occasionally even joined in on it.

While Remus was a good student and a loyal friend, he was also a prankster and mischief maker. After the others learned to become animagi, the four of them would explore the forbidden forest as a pack. And on nights when the moon was not full, they explored the castle, creating a map of all of Hogwart's and the secret passages within it. Later, he would get the nickname Moony, for his transformations.

Unfortunately, Sirius, James and Peter were not the only clever wizards at Hogwarts. Eventually, Severus Snape caught on. And Sirius, who (along with James) had had a long and antagonistic relationship with him, played a nasty trick that endangered Remus and Snape both, and likely would have been an end to him had James not pulled him out at the last moment.

Remus was stated to never have been cruel to Snape, as the others had, but he had never stopped them, either. And he regretted this fact, often, in his later years. Sirius would never forgive the marauders for the dangerous prank, and Remus would live to fear what might have happened had James not stopped him. Snape discovered Remus' secret, but was forced into secrecy about it by Dumbledore.

In his later years, Remus became a prefect, and Dumbledore told him he hoped that Remus would use his status to help reign in his fellows, to a degree. However, Remus had difficult enforcing his status with his friends.

After graduating from Hogwarts, the Marauders remained close friends and together joined The Order of the Phoenix to fight against Lord Voldemort and the Death Eaters who followed him. Remus had difficulty finding employment, as the ministry had somehow learned of his status as a werewolf, and had to rely on Lily and James for financial support. While James seemed not to mind, Remus regretted being a burden on his friend.

As the war progressed, the friendships began to be warped by distrust and uncertainty. Sirius came to distrust Remus and suspect that he was a spy, while Remus had traveled to the North to help in the war. He was not aware of the switch of Secret-keepers, when Lily and James' deaths shocked the wizarding world, and was not even included in the plan to help keep his friends safe. A fact that stung him more over the years that he was without them. The night of Lily and James' death, Remus lost not only them, but Peter and Sirius as well, as one was believed to be dead and the other assumed a traitor and locked away.

With no friends and no financial support, Remus fell into a rough, empty and lonely life. His difficulty in finding a job grew no easier, and supporting himself was difficult, but he managed until Dumbledore offered him a position as a Professor at Hogwarts thanks to an opening in Defense Against The Dark Arts.

It is on his way to this new opportunity that I am taking him from, in his shabby clothes on the Hogwart's Express.
Abilities/Special Powers:
Turns into a Werewolf on the full moon
An exceptionally bright wizard (Spells require the use of his wand)
Third-Person Sample:
There was always something about the Hogwarts Express that put Remus at ease. The gentle rocking back and forth and the white noise of the clakclackclack of train rails on tracks lulled him into a relaxed state while the memories associated with the train and the trip to Hogwart's settled his mind and nerves to a gentle calm. It wasn't long after he found his seat that Remus fell asleep. He was warm and comfortable and safe, feelings he had only felt individually for almost eleven years now.

But as he drifted back to consciousness there was no easing motion. The comfort of the train benches had been replaced with the familiar stiffness of a hard floor. The soothing clack and murmur of voice replaced with a silence and stillness that made him nervous. And when he slowly blinked into the bright light, it wasn't the small train cabin he had fallen asleep in, but a large room with a piano. Disoriented and confused, he slowly sat up, regarding the room and bringing a hand to his head to rub at his temples, searching his ragged robes for his wand. Still there. That was good at least. But his case was no where to be found. Just a bar of chocolate, his wand, and a few scraps of paper.

How had he gotten off the train? This hardly looked like Hogwarts, though with how often things in the castle changed on their own, it could still be. He got to his feet and slowly wandered the room, glancing into cabinets and poking his head out the door with a loose curiosity. Perhaps he was having a dream on the train. That was possible. He slipped his hand into his pocket, the reassuring weight and texture of his wand against his hand but he left it where it was. If this was a muggle place he needed to be wary of using magic. But he had to try something. Perhaps he could apparate? After a last glance of the room he tried to focus his mind on Hogsmeade. But no matter what building he chose or how hard he focused... nothing happened.

Right. Walking it was. As he pulled the door open again, he reached into his robe for the bar of chocolate he had tucked away, only to brush his hand against something solid and heavy. He pulled it out and examined the device, turning it about in his hands and experimentally pushing at the buttons. He could, at least, recognize it for what it was. A phone of some sort. The question was why did he have it and where had he gotten it from?

First-Person Sample:
[Remus had never had much use for phones so try to be patient with the raggedy wizard while he taps curiously through the functions of the little device in his hands. He had no idea what he was going to do with it, but perhaps if he found who it belonged to, he could find out where he was and how he had come to be there.

The audio function is all that has been activated, so at first the only sound is the tap tap click of his fingers on the screen. And then he noticed what happened.]

Ah, I see. Apologies, I'm not sure who this is, but perhaps you could help me, if anyone is there.

[Being from a half muggle family has its advantages. While he may not commonly use a phone, he had done so before and he understood them better than some wizards might.]

Could you perhaps tell me who this is and where you are? I believe this gadget belongs to someone else. They must have misplaced it.

[Did someone use a memory charm on him?]
